25-year-old Georgian artist Levan Songulashvili’s work was sold at the Take Home a Nude auction held at Sotheby’s, NYC.
The painting called ‘The Nun’ was purchased by a collector from New York. The auction of New York Art Academy called Take Home a Nude took place at Sotheby’s auction house on October 24 and was attended by famous Hollywood stars, including Brook Shields and Naomi Watts. Songulashvili’s painting, created in 2012, was chosen by several collectors, but in the end it was sold on only one of them. This is not the first time when the young Georgian artist’s work is sold at Sotheby’s. In 2015 his ‘Jellyfish’ was also purchased by a collector from New York. Levan Songulashvili painted it when he was 22 years old and living in Tbilisi.
