The President of Georgia has decided to mark the anniversary of the Russo-Ukrainian war by showcasing the monumental painting “Noli Me Tangere“ (2022) by Levan Songulashvili.

The President’s decision was inspired by Picasso’s “Guernica,” which conveyed the horrors of war and the human tragedy that resulted from it during the world exhibition in Paris in 1937. In solidarity with Ukraine and in observance of the anniversary of the war, the Orbeliani Palace (Presidential residence) was illuminated in the colours of the Ukrainian flag on the night of February 23rd, 2023.

This exhibition of Songulashvili’s work is a poignant reminder of the human cost of war and serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of solidarity between the Georgian and Ukrainian people.
